summer style

how about some summer style? right now, it is chilly, dull and grey here in seattle- pretty prohibitive when it comes to warm-weather outfits. but bookmarking breezy, sexy looks gives me the strength to make it to the next warm day!

a very stylish lady {via clare vivier’s blog} perfecting the early summer look. the white shorts make it look clean, and the plaid shirt, fringed scarf and army-green jacket pull together the all-important layers and textures. of course, the star of the outfit is the bag- the la tropezienne by clare vivier. as you probably know, i own it and it goes with everything. it’s the epitome of simple= fresh and timeless.  i get so many compliments on it!

another favorite look, via j.crew. gauzy, breezy top with pops of color, and the cut and rolled-up sleeves keep her from looking like she’s drowning in it. and as you know, the high-low look is my favorite- so i adore that this top {that could also look gorgeous as a beach cover-up} is paired with rolled, beat up jeans… and bright high heels! low-key sexy.

here’s another winning, somewhat similar, combination: shorts {khaki, to elongate the leg}, loose top, a striped scarf for color and texture {and to combat seattle breezes}and… bright green heels! having one unexpected element in an otherwise simple look is so elegant and fresh, i think. {via calypso st. barth)

BELIEVES: “A human being is part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe,’ a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation, and a foundation for inner security.” Albert Einstein “The important thing is not to think much but to love much and so do that which best stirs you to love.” St. Teresa of Avila “People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances without own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.” Joseph Campbell
